In her keynote presentation for the 25th annual conference of the Text & Academic Authors Association (TAA), author Joy Hakim declared, “Textbook writing is, or should be, an artistic task. What we do is very important. We need to do nothing less than write great books, books good enough to inspire and educate a generation of learners.”
Joy Hakim is the author of the ten-volume K-12 textbook series A History of US, and the trade book, Freedom: A History of US that accompanies a 16-part PBS series, all published by Oxford University Press. She is also author of The Story of Science, a three-volume series co-published by Smithsonian Books and the National Science Teachers Association.
This podcast of Hakim’s address is presented by special arrangement with TAA.
