The revolving door was invented in New York City, but it was perfected in Washington, DC, where it possibly gets the most use of anywhere in the world. A once-prominent figure on Capitol Hill has again popped up in the busy neighborhood surrounding K Street.
On Thursday, the Association of American Publishers announced that Maria Pallante, former US Register of Copyrights, will become the organization next’s leader following the retirement of Tom Allen.
“Allen, who took the AAP post in April of 2009, told PW he was eager to begin his retirement, which has been in the works for some time—in fact, I think he’d planned to go at the end of 2014, but he agreed to extend his contract to the end of this year,” Andrew Albanese, Publishers Weekly senior writer, reports.
“With her strong background in IP law and policy, leadership experience, deep connections in Congress, and some connections to publishing—she worked briefly in the early 90s for the Authors Guild and the National Writers Union—Maria Pallante is seemingly a perfect fit for AAP top job,” he tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally.
