A lawyer working for former President Donald Trump warned New York attorney Mark Pomerantz on Monday this week that he could face legal consequences over his memoir, People vs. Donald Trump, which is set to be published on February 7.
In 2021, Pomerantz served on the Manhattan District Attorney’s team that investigated Donald Trump and the Trump Organization for potential financial crimes until his resignation in February 2022.
“His book purportedly explains Pomerantz’s opinion why Trump himself should be prosecuted—and why that prosecution hasn’t yet happened,” according to Andrew Albanese, Publishers Weekly senior writer.
In a letter Albanese reports was shared with PW, Trump attorney Joe Tacopina warned Pomerantz and his publisher Simon & Schuster against publishing a book that repeats what Tacopina suggests are “false” and “defamatory” statements.
“In response, Pomerantz issued a statement late Monday evening, vowing to defend his book and standing by his previous statements and the book,” Albanese tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally.
