Frankfurt Book Fair 2019 attendance figures show a 5.5% jump from the numbers who attended in 2018, including a 1.8% increase in professional attendance

Andrew AlbaneseFrankfurt Book Fair organizers say 2019 saw a “significant” increase in total attendance with 302,267 total visitors, reports Andrew AlbanesePublishers Weekly senior writer. The recently concluded trade show is the world’s largest publishing industry conference.

“That number is a healthy 5.5% jump from the 285,024 who attended in 2018, and includes a 1.8% increase in professional attendance,” Albanese tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally.

“Notably, the number of exhibitors was down very slightly to 7,450 from 7,503 in 2018,” he adds.

Every Friday, CCC’s “Beyond the Book” speaks with the editors and reporters of “Publishers Weekly” for an early look at the news that publishers, editors, authors, agents and librarians will be talking about when they return to work on Monday.
