Contact-less registration, wider aisles and health checks are all coming to Frankfurt Book Fair

Andrew AlbaneseOn Wednesday, Frankfurt Book Fair organizers confirmed their intention to move forward with world’s largest publishing trade show as scheduled for October 14-18, 2020.

“The German state of Hessen, where Frankfurt is located, gave approval for the large-scale event to take place after reviewing the book fair’s plans to maintain hygiene and social distancing measures,” reports Andrew AlbanesePublishers Weekly senior writer.

“For example, there will be contactless registration and entry and health checks,” he tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally. “The minimum width of the aisles in the halls will expand to up to 25 ft., and the minimum booth size will double. The footprint of the fair will also shrink— this year, the halls in use will be limited to 3.0/3.1, 4.0/4.1 and 6.0/6.1.”

Every Friday, CCC’s “Beyond the Book” speaks with the editors and reporters of “Publishers Weekly” for an early look at the news that publishers, editors, authors, agents and librarians will be talking about when they return to work on Monday.
